Event Summary

The Boxing Tournament is a 3-day bracketed tournament featuring around 50 fraternity men competing in the 11 weight classes. The boxers typically train for anywhere from 3 to 6 months for the tournament. Belts go to the winners of each weight division as well as a Fight of the Night trophy each day. The coveted team trophy goes to the fraternity that wins the overall tournament.

The tournament helps fund the various activities of the Golden Gloves Gym charity here in Knoxville. The gym is currently home to roughly 60 boxers who train weekly, with ages ranging from 8 to 34. The majority of funds raised go towards sending fighters from the gym to the national boxing competition each year.

Brief history

This will be the 38th year of Boxing Weekend. Five years ago, Ace Miller, who was a boxing legend and helped found the tournament, passed away just before the beginning of the tournament. We felt the need to change the tournament’s name to properly honor Ace’s memory. A more detailed history can be found on our websites history page: Boxing Weekend History
